Hammonds has advised private equity buy-and-build specialist Sovereign Capital on its acquisition of brain injury care specialist Christchurch Court.
Sovereign Capital, which has been supported by Christchuch’s management in the takeover, was advised by Hammonds partner Jonathan Jones, who led a team that included senior associate Jayne Aarons, corporate associate Joy Irving and banking associate Andrew Fordham.
Santander Corporate Banking, which provided a senior debt facility to enable the acquisition, turned to its long-term legal advisers at Howard Kennedy for advice on the matter, with banking lawyer Steve Clinning instructed as the lead partner. His team included property finance partner Mark Phillips and corporate solicitor Matthew Astbury.
“It was an interesting transaction, not only due to the nature of the work, but because the particular sector is increasing in popularity among investors, reflected by Sovereign Capital’s interest.”
