Hammond Suddards poaches Eversheds property partner

Hammond Suddards is taking a partner from Eversheds as part of a bid to strengthen its commercial property practice.

Nic Crocker joins the firm's Leeds office at the end of this month after 16 years at Eversheds.

Crocker says: “We all come to a stage in our careers where we start to think, are we making the most of our careers?

“I felt I was not playing to my strengths at Eversheds. I wanted to see how someone else did it. I was not getting the same amount of fun out of the job at Eversheds as I thought I should.

“Hammond Suddards seems to be focused on playing to people's strengths.”

David Ansbro, Eversheds' Leeds managing partner, says: “I have a high regard for Nic on a personal basis but his departure is highly unlikely to have any impact on our business. I hope he adds value to Hammonds.”

Chris Jones, managing partner of Hammonds, says: “This is part of an expansion drive that we are taking in the commercial property field. We needed more partner resources in that area.

“The head of our commercial property team, Chris Marks, sat next to Nic Crocker on a plane and he knew him before from deals so he persuaded him to move firms.”

Crocker will be one of seven partners in the Leeds commercial property team, and one of 11 nationally.

Jones says: “He has strong client contacts. We hope they will value their relationship with him and we hope they will move firms too.”
