The three firms will share the retail giant’s employers liability and personal liability claims work, with Kennedys and Morgan Cole acting in the South of England and Wales, and Halliwells covering the North.
Halliwells will look after the work out of its Sheffield office. Office head Suzanne Liversidge, along with dispute resolution partners Peter Unsworth and Paul McGrath, handled Halliwells’ competitive tender.
Meanwhile, Kennedys was asked to pitch for a place on the panel because of an existing relationship with Tesco, having carried out some insurance work for the supermarket chain in the past. Litigation partner Roger Jones is Kennedy’s Tesco relationship partner.
Kennedys chief executive Ric Martin said: “We’re delighted to be acting for a client such as Tesco.”
Halliwells managing partner Ian Austin said the appointment was a testimony to the standing of the firm’s dispute resolution team and its recent growth.
Partner Jeremy Rutter will manage Morgan Cole’s relationship with Tesco.
