Dr Michael Powers QC, a clinical negligence specialist, is leaving Hailsham Chambers to join Clerksroom in Taunton as the head of its clinical negligence team. Powers, who is also a qualified doctor, will be the first silk to join the case management centre on a full-time basis. Hailsham has also lost professional negligence specialist Mark Simpson, to Fountain Court Chambers. Simpson, who was called to the bar in 1992, has appeared in Hall v Simons and Dubai Aluminium. He is currently acting for Ernst & Young in the Equitable Life litigation.
