International law firm Gowling WLG advised finnCap, Exotix Partners and Baden Hill, as joint placing agents in the UK, on the London IPO of Grit Real Estate Income Group Limited (“GRIT”).

GRIT, which has assets in seven African countries, was already listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and the Mauritius Stock Exchange. GRIT is now the only Mauritian company whose shares are also listed on the Official List of the UK Listing Authority and whose shares are traded on the main market of the London Stock Exchange.

In conjunction with its London IPO GRIT raised US$132 million by way of institutional placings in the UK, Mauritius and South Africa.

The Gowling WLG team was led by corporate partner Nick Heather who was assisted by corporate associate Emily Troubridge together with real estate partner Christine Jackson and real estate associate Bradley Silver.

Nick Heather said: “This was an interesting transaction that by virtue of existing listings in South Africa and Mauritius had many moving parts. We were delighted to have advised the UK Placing Agents.”
