Gide makes up two in depleted promotions round

French giant Gide Loyrette Nouel has made up two associates to partner in this year’s promotion round.

Guillaume Jolly becomes a partner in the tax department of Gide’s Paris office. Jolly focuses on both French and international tax law, particularly relating to corporate, private equity and real estate transactions.

In Moscow Grigory Marinichev joins the partnership. Marinichev heads Gide’s Russian banking and finance practice and specialises in structured finance and secured lending.

Gide’s partnership now stands at 103 partners across the firm’s international network. Despite the latest promotions this is still a drop from the 2009 year-end, when the firm had 109 partners.

The firm recently announced a global strategic review (27 October 2010) which saw the closure of its Prague, Belgrade, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Riyadh offices.

Senior partner Pierre Raoul-Duval said at the time the offices were not able to offer young local lawyers the chance to make partner and the investment required outweighed the benefit of maintaining a presence in those cities.
