Gateley advises Avignon on purchase of commercial assets of Grade II-listed building

A cross-discipline team from Gateley has advised on a deal that saw property investment and asset management company Avignon Capital purchase the commercial assets of The School Yard, a Grade II-listed Victorian former school, located in the Birmingham suburb of Harborne.

Renowned for its clock tower, the property recently benefited from a £5.5m redevelopment. This provided a new public square, residential accommodation and commercial operations, including national brand Prezzo and Birmingham-based Urban Coffee Company.

The Gateley team, led by real-estate senior associate James Madill and supported by director of planning Gerry Sheedy, tax associate Victoria Metcalfe and construction solicitor Christian Mulvihill, advised Avignon Capital on the deal. Mark Johnson of MK2 Real Estate acted as agent.
