Fulbright names London partner as arbitration chief

US firm Fulbright & Jaworski has made London partner David Howell co-head of the firm’s global arbitration and alternative dispute resolution group.

Howell will manage the 30-lawyer practice with Houston-based partner Mark Baker.

He started his legal career in 1977 as a barrister at Lincoln’s Inn, qualifying as a solicitor seven years later.

Since then he has advised clients in proceedings in the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Singapore International Arbitration Centre.

Before joining Fulbright in 2003, Howell was a partner at Baker & McKenzie and headed the firm’s Asia arbitration practice.
