Boston-based IP powerhouse Fish & Richardson is ramping up its exposure in Europe and Asia, including creating formal referral relationships with local firms.
The firm’s seven-partner management committee has appointed pharmaceutical patent partner John Gagel to lead the international push, which aims to boost the firm’s visibility in Europe and Asia.
As part of the strategy, partners will meet with law firms and clients, such as tech company LG, in the UK, Germany, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan to build relationships.
In particular, both Gagel and managing partner Peter Devlin will meet with IP firms in the UK and Germany, including Bird & Bird, to discuss referral relationships.
Devlin told The Lawyer: “Overall we’ve started to look overseas more. We’re targeting trips to different countries to increase our profile.”
Although Fish & Richardson has 10 offices in the US, it has no offices abroad.
