Fasken Martineau has hired Canada’s former federal minister of international trade and secretary of state for international financial institutions, Jim Peterson, as counsel.
Peterson was a Canadian minister of international trade between 2003 and 2006, during which time he represented Canada at the WTO’s Doha round of trade negotiations.
He was also secretary of state between 1997 and 2002, when he played a leading role in piloting the most recent round of Bank Act reforms and sponsored a wide variety of other initiatives, including money laundering legislation.
At Fasken, Peterson will advise on international trade relations issues in all of the firm’s international offices, including Fasken Martineau Stringer Saul in London.
