Birmingham firm Martineau Johnson is taking on the head of intellectual property from Eversheds‘ Nottingham office to boost its high-tech practice.
Niall Head-Rapson joins the firm a week after it won Tom McGuire from Cambridge firm Taylor Vinters, where he was head of innovation and technology.
Head-Rapson, a specialist in biotechnology work, says: “There is a strong demand for specialist legal services from biotechnology companies across the UK, but especially in Cambridge, East Anglia and the North of England.
“Intellectual property is more critical to these companies than those in almost any other sector. I see a key part of my role as helping them to protect their assets so that they can exploit their know-how.”
Martineau Johnson’s intellectual property clients already include Aga Foodservice Group and Manganese Bronze Holdings.
