This year’s European Awards saw winners from firms of all types from across the Continent take home prizes. Ahead of the deadline for entries for the 2016 edition of the Awards, previous winners speak about the experience of entering and winning.

Law firm of the year: Benelux

Dutch boutique Rutgers & Posch was named Benelux firm of the year 2015 for its immediate impact on the market. The firm was set up by a team of six partners from DLA Piper, Houthoff Buruma and Stibbe and since it was established has continued to hire. Rutgers & Posch reported turnover growth of 70 per cent between its first and second years in operation, with the corporate team performing particularly strongly on the back of a succession of mandates on mergers and capital markets.

Law firm of the year: Germany

Noerr, a prior winner of this category, triumphed again on the back of sustained growth in the last five years – growth which continued in 2014 with the firm reporting a 7 per cent turnover rise. In 2014 it expanded its geographical presence with the launch of a Brussels office, where six lawyers are now based. It is also attracting lateral hires from both independent and international rivals in Germany and has a solid client base including a growing number of DAX30 companies.
