Doughty Street co-head handed UN IJC roleDoughty Street Chambers joint head Geoffrey Robertson QC has been appointed to the UN’s Internal Justice Council (IJC). Together with four other IJC members, he will recommend 15 judges to preside over UN disputes, including corruption allegations.

The IJC will also supervise the new internaljustice system, which is due to commence in January 2009. The new system has been brought in due to the UN being immune from legal action in all state courts. Robertson will continue to practise from Doughty Street during his four-year term.
