DLA Piper and JKW Law have been appointed by the Northern Territory government to advise on the development of its Marine Industry Park in Darwin, a services hub for international and coastal shipping.
The project involves the release of 130 hectares of portside and marine land by the Land Development Corporation, established by the Northern Territory government to oversee the release and management of land in key locations to enable growth in the territory.
The Marine Industry Park will be located in Darwin’s East Arm Logistics Precinct, which comprises the East Arm Wharf, terminus of AustralAsia Railway, Darwin Business Park and Marine Supply Base. The site is also opposite ConocoPhillips’ Darwin LNG plant and INPEX’s Blaydin Point LNG plant, which is under construction. The park will provide servicing, repairs and maintenance support to the marine industry.
Scott Alden, finance and projects partner at DLA Piper, led the team, with advice from fellow partners Jim Holding (corporate), Mathew Cridland (tax) and Rod Besley (real estate). Danny Wauchope is the lead partner from JKW Law.
DLA Piper was also recently appointed to the Northern Territory government legal services panel.
