Dewey wins energy guru from KB Home

Dewey Ballantine has poached the deputy general counsel of US property developing company KB Home for its global finance group.

Charles Carroll will join the firm as a partner in New York to work alongside department head Richard Shutran.

Shutran said: “Charlie is well regarded in the institutional finance community. Dewey’s clients and lawyers have worked closely with Charlie over the years. He has demonstrated a high level of expertise in various transactions.”

Carroll, a former partner at US rival Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, mainly advises clients in the global energy sector.

Last month (28 August) The Lawyer reported that Dewey and fellow New York-headquartered firm LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & MacRae plan to merge at the beginning of October, subject to partner approval.
