Dentons has made up five lawyers to partner in the UK, while the total number of global promotions dropped significantly compared to last year.

The firm has revealed that 36 lawyers will become partners across the world, having announced a bumper round of 54 in 2017.

There are four London promotions; Tessa Blank, Simon Elliott, Christopher Graf and Christopher Thomson. Elliott is the only one of the four who is understood to have trained at the firm.

There is also one new member in Milton Keynes; construction lawyer Jane Miles.

London is one of two of Dentons’ offices to welcome four new partners, with the firm’s Washington DC office equalling the amount.

Dentons promoted nine lawyers to partner across the US, as well as in Continental Europe.

There are a further eight new partners in Dentons’ Canadian offices, four in Asia-Pacific and one in Mexico City.

UK & Middle East CEO Jeremy Cohen said: “We have come a long way over the past few years, bringing on board new offices in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Watford, as well as 50+ partner hires, but investing in the next generation is an equally important part of this strategy and I am delighted to welcome these five very talented lawyers into the partnership.”

There were no partner promotions in Watford or Dentons’ newest Scottish offices, which became part of the firm’s network last summer after its merger with Maclay Murray & Spens.
