Dechert has promoted one lawyer in London to the firm’s partnership after missing out the City in last year’s round.

The US firm has made up Mikhaelle Schiappacasse to its financial services group, an associate who has been with the firm her entire career.

Schiappacasse is one of four women to have been made up globally in an eight-strong round.

Dechert tends to promote on average around 10 lawyers per year, although last year’s cohort totalled just six. Before Schiappacasse, the last London partner to be announced was financial services lawyer Richard Heffner in 2015. In that year, Dechert made up 14 new members in a bumper promotions round for the firm.

Antitrust lawyer Clemens York will also become a member of Dechert’s partnership, dividing his time between Brussels and Frankfurt. He, along with Schiappacasse, stand as the only two promotions outside the US.

Washington DC is home to three newly-promoted lawyers, while the firm’s headquarters of Philadelphia will welcome one new partner.

The firm’s financial services group account for the highest number of promotions, totalling three this year.
