FFW and Osborne help BBC with magazine sell-off

Field Fisher Waterhouse (FFW) and Osborne Clarke advised and BBC Worldwide’s sale of publisher Origin and all of its non-BBC related titles in a management buyout (MBO). BBC Magazines will retain the BBC-branded titles previously produced by Origin. FFW represented BBC Worldwide, led by corporate partner Andrew Blankfield. BBC Worldwide’s financial advisers were Ernst & Young. Osborne Clarke acted for the MBO team, lead by Jos Moule.

Three firms advise on Travelsphere acquisition

Ashurst, Lovells and Howes Percival have acted on the £144m buyout of Travelsphere Holdings. Travelsphere runs and sells package holidays directly to consumers, under the Travelsphere, Page & Moy and Just You brands. Private equity firm Electra Partners Europe and the Travelsphere Group bought the shares from HgCapital, Travelsphere management and others. Ashurst advised Electra and Travelsphere Group, led by corporate partner Bruce Hanton. Lovells advised HgCapital, led by associate Jonathan Wood (now a partner at the London office of Weil Gotshal & Manges). Howes Percival acted for Travelsphere’s management.

CC Milan handed role on highway merger

The Milan office of Clifford Chance has scooped a lead role on the ?25bn (£17.14bn) tie-up between Italian highway company Autostrade and Spanish countepart Abertis Infraestructuras. The Italian office won the mandate independently from its network, and is advising Abertis on Italian law matters, led by Italy head Nick Wrigley and partner Paolo Sersale. Barcelona firm Roca Junyent is advising Abertis.
