Pity the poor City cyclist. And in particular ‘We’ll Getcha & Mangle Ya’ private equity star Marco Compagnoni. As if it’s not enough to run the gauntlet of irate cabbies, bendy buses and lorry drivers on their mobiles, Compagnoni’s route to work takes him past his old stomping ground Lovells.
“Cycling along Holborn Viaduct can be a nightmare,” says Compagnoni. “Occasionally some of my old colleagues enjoy yelling ‘Can’t you afford a car?’ as I ride past.”
City spies may wish to look out for a yellow Brompton if they want to offer Compagnoni some moral support. Or heckle.
