Couderts forges links with Hungarian firm

US firm Coudert Brothers has announced a formal association with Hungary's largest law firm, Nagy es Trocsanyi .

Coudert Brothers partner Clyde Rankin, who is responsible for the practice's European offices, said the affiliation would be the largest link-up of its kind in Hungary and would help exploit huge investment opportunities in the country.

Rankin said his firm would provide international commercial know-how while the Hungarian practice would contribute local expertise.

The two practices have had an informal working relationship since 1994 and have worked together on joint venture, privatisation and finance projects in Hungary.

Their biggest joint project was on the $460m Hungarian gas privatisation.

Rankin said: “There is a great deal of investment opportunity in Hungary and Nagy es Trocsanyi's ability to advise on the broad range of Hungarian business issues that are involved adds another strength to Coudert Brothers' established international practice.”

Zsolt Zamostny, senior corporate partner at the Hungarian firm, said: “Couderts Brother's international finance and corporate capability, together with the access it provides to a worldwide office network, will give an extra dimension to our services.”
