Corus GC Shoylekov quits for Wolseley

Building equipment distributor Wolseley has scooped Corus general counsel Richard Shoylekov to take the role of company secretary and head of legal.

He replaces interim general counsel Charles Watters, who had stepped into the role following the departure of Mark White earlier in the year to join food services outfit, Compass Group. Shoylekov will take charge of a team of more than 30 lawyers.

Shoylekov, who had led the Corus team through its deal with Tata Steel last April, will be temporarily replaced by associate general counsel Helen Matheson until a permanent replacement is found.

Wolseley reported revenue of £16,221m for its financial year ended July 20-07, having spent a record £1,718m on acquisitions, which saw the company enter eight new jurisdictions over the period.

The company is known to use Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom.
