SJ Berwin won the work on Collins Stewart’s £326m IPO because of a previous deal – thanks to corporate partner Graham White, who joined the firm from Dickson Minto last year. Earlier this year, SJ Berwin was invited by the chief executive and chairman (White already had existing relationships with both) to pitch for the work on its £122m management buyout. It won the job, completing the deal in May, and on the strength of that was brought in to advise on the IPO.
SJ Berwin has worked with Collins Stewart for several years. But to get on the inside track for its corporate work is a real bonus – the corporate finance house is a leading AIM nominated adviser and broker and works on a sizeable number of main list flotations as well.
