Colibri Kazakhstan Law Firm provides a full range of legal services to Kazakhstan companies and international clients. Our relatively young law firm was created by two partners — Saniya Toleshova-Perzadayeva and Artem Timoshenko — in October 2010. In 2012, Colibri Kazakhstan has merged with one of the leading local law firms in Kazakhstan, Yelyubayev & Partners.

Following the merger, Zhanar Abdullayeva has joined the firm as a partner, while Mr Zhumageldy Yelyubayev became a consultant of the firm on all issues concerning subsoil and subsoil use. Today our team includes eminent professionals and specialists practising in various legal fields.

Our lawyers have been at the forefront of the development of the legislative system of Kazakhstan and participated in the drafting of more than 90 legislative acts of the Republic. The combination of the team’s experience, deep knowledge and understanding of the legal system allows us to fulfil the most demanding expectations of the clients and resolve complicated legal issues concerning doing business in Kazakhstan and abroad.

Saniya Perzadayeva

Saniya is the managing partner at Colibri Kazakhstan. She focuses on sophisticated cross-border M&A deals and international financings. Sanya has focused industry expertise in Infrastructure, PPP, and energy regulations. She regularly advises the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan on concession & PPP laws.

Saniya’s clients include multinational corporations, large local companies and industrial groups, banks and international financial institutions, state-owned companies and the state.

Prior to joining Colibri Kazakhstan team, Saniya worked at major international law firms in the United Kingdom and Kazakhstan as well as the Eurasian Development Bank.

She is a members of Kazakhstan Bar Association and Kazakhstan Petroleum Legal Association.

Saniya holds LL.M. in Banking and Finance from Queen Mary College, London University, UK; LL.B. from Cardiff University, Wales and a law degree from Adilet Higher Law School, Kazakhstan.


Artem Timoshenko

Artem Timoshenko is a partner at Colibri Kazakhstan, focusing on litigation and arbitration proceedings, as well as enforcement of foreign courts rulings and arbitral awards. His experience also includes advising on corporate, M&A, regulatory and employment law matters.

Artem’s clientele for dispute resolution and commercial law advice includes multinational companies and Kazakh businesses in energy, oil & gas, mining, transport infrastructure, telecommunications, retail and banking sectors.

He is a certified criminal defence attorney and routinely represents clients in arbitration, mediation and litigation proceedings in courts of all levels on a wide range of civil, administrative and criminal law matters. He has ensured successful client representation on over 100 cases up to date.

Artem is listed as Arbitrator of IUS International Arbitration Court as well as of the International Arbitration and Mediation Courts at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kazakhstan.

He is a member of the Almaty Bar Association, Kazakhstan Lawyers Union.

Artem holds a law degree summa cum laude from the Academy of Jurisprudence Law School, Kazakhstan.


Raushana Chaltabayeva

Raushana Chaltabayeva is one of the most experienced Kazakh lawyers in the areas of Public-Private Partnership (PPP), Infrastructure, and cross-border transactions in mining sector.

She is regularly invited to contribute to shaping core Kazakh legislation relating to PPP, renewable energy, tariff policy, government procurement, and Infrastructure regulations.

Raushana advises the sovereign, state-owned companies, foreign creditors and international financial institutions on finance, M&A, debt and equity capital markets deals involving Kazakh assets.

Prior to joining Colibri Kazakhstan team Raushana worked for major international law firms.

She holds a Masters degree in International relations from the Eastern Mediterranean University, Cyprus and a law degree from Russian-Kyrgyz (Slavic) University, Kyrgyzstan.


Zhanar Abdullayeva

Zhanar Abdullayeva, partner, has specialised industry expertise and unique regulatory insight in oil & gas and mining sectors.

She benefits from more than 10 years of diverse experience advising major Kazakh companies, international investors and state-owned enterprises on the full range of specific regulations and legal requirements in the sector. She has extensive experience in conducting complex due diligences of oil and gas and mining assets; structuring cross-border transactions; and addressing local regulatory matters.

Prior to joining Colibri Kazakhstan, Zhanar worked for the leading international law firms, she also served as the general legal counsel of a leading oil and gas company in Kazakhstan.

She is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales, Kazakhstan Petroleum Lawyers’ Association and Kazakhstan Bar Association.

Zhanar holds LL.M. degree from London School of Economics and Political Science, UK; LL.B. from University of Nottingham, UK and a Law Degree from Kazakh State Law University, Kazakhstan.
