CC shakes up business development function

Clifford Chance has appointed a new global head of business development ahead of the impending departure of incumbent Charles Doyle.

London-based Laurie Robertson, currently head of business development for the global corporate practice, will take up the position on 1 August.

In the role, Robertson will take responsibility for coordinating the firm’s business development teams around the world.

Robertson joined the magic circle firm in October 2000, since when has led the corporate business development division. Since February 2005 he has been responsible for the firm’s client-focus initiatives. This involves managing all the firm’s high-level client relationships.

Prior to joining Clifford Chance, Robertson worked at global advertising agency J Walter Thompson (JWT), where he was global account director for Unilever. His career with JWT included periods working in the US, Japan and the UK.

Doyle, who joined Clifford Chance from Accenture more than two years ago, will leave the firm, although he has not yet announced what his next role will be.
