CC names executive committee

The appointments to Clifford Chance's new global executive committee havebeen finalised,

The Lawyer can reveal.As Rogers & Wells managing partner Larry Cranch revealed to The

Lawyerlast week, two of the global practices will be headed by partners from theUS firm.

Head of the litigation practice group will be James Benedict,while Bob King will take

charge of the new firm's securities group.The final position to be decided – global head

of property – is being heldin reserve for Punder Volhard Weber & Axster if it votes, as

it is expectedto do, in favour of its merger with Clifford Chance next month.Punders

partner Wolfgang Flehinghaus is widely tipped to take up theproperty job, but no firm

appointments can be made until Punders partnershave voted the merger through.The German

firm's partner meeting has been moved forward from September toAugust in order to give

formal approval to the three-way merger.The global group heads were decided by the new

Clifford Chance executivecommittee, chaired by new chief executive officer Michael Bray

withoutconsultation with other partners.It had already been announced that Clifford

Chance partner David Childswill become global head of corporate, while colleague Stuart

Popham willhead up the global finance group.
