Today’s “Success Stories” case study features Sarah Holford, the head of legal and compliance at Scania, a heavy goods vehicle company part of the Volkswagen Group. When promoted to this position in January 2019, Holford’s remit was to deliver change and to help the legal function become more commercial and approachable.
In this video, she talks about her journey building a legal team from scratch, the legal tech she uses and how it has helped improve business engagement.
Sarah leads the Legal and Compliance function for Scania and was awarded one of this year’s Hot 100 lawyers. She joined Scania as in-house counsel in 2017, and was swiftly promoted to head the team in early 2019, with a remit to deliver change and help the legal team become more commercial and approachable. Sarah has achieved that and more, by demonstrating not only technical excellence but also a deep understanding of technologies and ability to accelerate business engagement.
Within Scania (and its parent group Volkswagen) as well as the legal circle, Sarah enjoys a reputation as an early adopter and change-maker, who has radically transformed the impact and credibility of the Legal function.
