The turning of a new calendar year sees a fresh set of challenges on the horizon for busy GC teams. Aside from upcoming political and legislative changes there will be new pressures on the recruitment market, budget constraints and evolving technology to consider. These are just a few of the demands that require a progressive in-house legal team that goes beyond giving sound legal advice.
Questions for 2018
With this in mind, how does a GC build an appropriate team to react to today’s business challenges? How do you ensure the right mix of experience and knowledge? And what are the traits and skills of the most progressive in-house lawyers in 2018?
The rise of technology requires up-and-coming in-house lawyers to employ a whole new set of skills. Does this influence recruitment? And are millennial lawyers shaking things up?
These are just a few questions to be discussed at the next GC2B roundtable hosted by The Lawyer in association with Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) on 21 February 2018. Facilitated and chaired by editor Catrin Griffiths and BLP’s managing partner Lisa Mayhew, this discussion will be written up as a feature in The Lawyer.
We want to hear from experienced GCs who are interested in passing down their knowledge to the next generation of in-house lawyers, as well as those newer to the role who are keen to learn from some of the most experienced GCs.
