Nottingham-headquartered Browne Jacobson is on the hunt for up to 10 extra trainees for 2022 due to the workload it is experiencing.

The firm usually offers around 15 training contracts per year across all its office locations – located in Birmingham, Exeter, Manchester and London – but is seeking more due to the current workload across the firm’s private and public sector clients.

Trainees are typically recruited two years in advance, but Browne Jacobson has set a deadline for applications of 14 January 2022, with assessment centres expected to take place towards the end of January or the start of February, with a start date of 7 March. Candidates will need to have finished or be in the process of finishing their LPCs and may apply with any degree classification or A Level grade.

Tom Lyas, the recruitment manager at Browne Jacobson, said: “To meet the incredible growth we are seeing across all our legal teams we have had to take the unusual step of increasing our trainee pool with the recruitment of up to 10 additional posts in March 2022. This is the first time that we have looked to recruit trainees so near to a start date and we are delighted to say the response from the market has been extremely encouraging.”

Earlier this year, the firm retained 15 of 17 qualifiers, with five in Birmingham, four each in London and Nottingham and two in Manchester. It recorded revenue of £85m for the 2020/21 financial year, a 5 per cent increase on the previous year’s figure of £80.9m.
