Brodies has beefed up its technology and information group with the addition of former Addleshaw Goddard partner Andrew Rigby.

Technology and business process outsourcing (BPO) expert Rigby, who left Addleshaws’ London in the spring, has joined Brodies’ Edinburgh office as a partner. His appointment takes the firm’s partner headcount to 55.

According to Rigby he was attracted to Brodies because of its reputation in the Scottish market.

“The firm has a really good reputation in the banking and finance sector, which is a key strand of my type of work,” he added. “I chose Edinburgh because it has a huge financial services sector now. It is ranked as eighth largest in the world and some of the biggest banks in Europe operate out of Edinburgh.”

Addleshaws has been looking to replace Rigby since his departure but, due to the niche nature of his practice, is yet to make an appointment.

Rigby spent five years with Addleshaws, having joined from the London office of Tarlo Lyons.
