Jun Ji, managing partner
Mr Ji is one of the founding partners of Broad & Bright. From 1994-1997 he was an associate with Mori Hamada & Matsumoto in Tokyo, and practiced with Kirkland & Ellis LLP in their Los Angeles office from 1998 to 2000. Before founding Broad & Bright in 2004, Mr Ji was a partner at Zhongzi Law Office in Beijing. Mr Ji received his LL.B degree from Peking University in 1991. He also holds two LL.M degrees from the University of Tokyo Law School (1997) and Harvard Law School (1998), respectively.
Mr Ji’s areas of focus include Litigation & Arbitration, Intellectual Property, Foreign Direct Investment and M&A. Mr Ji has had extensive experience and success in litigation and arbitration, especially in cases involving intellectual property rights. In 2005, he won a trademark infringement suit on behalf of a Japanese company against four notable Chinese enterprises. The PRC’s Supreme People’s Court held the Chinese enterprises liable for trademark infringement, awarding Mr Ji’s client 8.3 million RMB (1.1 million USD) in damages, which Mr Ji’s team was able to successfully collect in full. This case was the largest amount of damages ever awarded to a foreign company for trademark infringement in China. For this remarkable achievement, Broad & Bright was granted the “Asia-Pacific Trademark Case 2008 Award” by Managing IP, a leading international magazine on Intellectual Property.
Yao Feng, Founding Partner
Ms Feng graduated from Law School of Jilin University with the LLB degree in 1997. After graduation, Ms Feng worked in Department of Treaty and Law of Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China as a governmental counsel from 1997 to 1999, and then worked as the director of Anti-Dumping Office from 1999 to 2001. Ms Feng went to Columbia Law School, New York, USA in 2001 and gained the LLM degree in 2002. Ms Feng worked at Covington & Burling’s Washington DC Office from 2002 to 2003, and then joined Broad & Bright as one of the founding partners.
Ms Feng focuses on Antitrust laws, International Trade and FDI areas in her practice. She has acted as the attorney for hundreds of filings to MOFCOM regarding Concentration of Undertakings, and has provided legal service in various International Trade disputes for companies and governments in China, South Korea, Japan, the US, the European Union and Russia. At the same time, she has rich experience in Customs Affairs, WTO, International Trade Dispute and FDI areas.
Hongchuan Liu, founding partner
Mr Liu graduated from Peking University School of Law in 1989. During this period, he also went to study at Houghton College of the United States as an exchange student. He earned his LL.M. degree from Harvard Law School, USA in 1997. Mr Liu started to practice at C & C Law Office in 1990. He was once a visiting attorney at Clifford Chance’s London and Hong Kong offices in 1996. He had worked as an associate at Skadden Arps’ Beijing Office from 1997 to 2001. He was a partner of Beijing Yiwen Law Firm before co-founded Broad & Bright in 2004.
Mr Liu’s major practice areas include foreign direct investment (FDI), M&A, VC/PE, capital market, corporate and commercial, outbound investment and international arbitration.
Mr Liu was awarded as a China Leading Lawyer in Capital Markets, M & A and Private Equity fields by IFLR1000 in 2017, 2016 and 2015 consecutively. He was also recognized as one of China Leading Lawyers in Corporate and M&A, Capital Markets and Private Equity & Venture Capital fields by Legal 500, China Law & Practice and Asialaw.
Changchun Yuan, founding partner
Mr Yuan Changchun graduated from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences with a Master of Law in 1985. He then went to study and work in the United States and earned a Doctorate in Law from Stanford Law School in 1995. He continued his legal practice after returning to China and served as a legal consultant at Coopers & Lybrand Consulting, a legal counsel for Manulife Financial (Asia Pacific), and a senior associate at Gide Loyrette Nouel.
Mr Yuan’s major practice areas are foreign investment, M&A, general corporate, healthcare (pharmaceutical, medical device) and media and entertainment. Mr Yuan has over 15 years experience in advising multinational companies on market entry, business formation, restructure, corporate governance, business negotiation, licence and distribution, public relation and government affairs. He currently serves as external legal counsel for several multinational companies, advising senior management on various operational issues.
David Wang, managing partner of Shanghai Office
Mr Wang obtained his LLB degree from Fudan University Law School in 1990; his LLM degree from Fudan University Law School in 1999 and LLM degree from New York University Law School in 2001.
Mr Wang has practised PRC law for more than 20 years. He worked as an in-house counsel at Shanghai Medicines & Health Products Import & Export Corporation from 1990 to 1993. Mr Wang worked with Pu Dong Law Office from 1994 to 2002. He was a visiting attorney at Ince & Co. Hong Kong Office from August to November 1998 and a visiting attorney at Holland & Knight New York Office in September 2001. Before joining Broad & Bright as a partner in August 2008, Mr Wang was a lawyer and partner of Shanghai Jin Mao Law Firm from 2003 to 2008. Mr Wang’s major practice areas include merge and acquisition, foreign investment, corporate, financing and dispute resolution.
Hui Dong, managing partner of Guangzhou Office
Hui is Partner at Broad & Bright Shanghai Office. Before joining Broad & Bright Hui was Partner at Shimin Law Offices. He also has experiences in management and education. He was a senior executive at China Electronics Imp/Exp East China and professor at the Law School of Shanghai University before practicing as a lawyer. He holds the Master’s Degree in Law from East China University of Political Science and Law and has been a special fellow at Waseda University (Japan) from 1997-2000.
Hui has extensive knowledge in areas such as corporate law, foreign investment, mergers and acquisitions, corporate liquidation, employment law and intellectual properties. He has set up dozens of foreign-invested enterprises for companies from Japan, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. He has also given advices for daily legal affairs for such companies including employee management, contract management and dispute resolutions. His advice has been provided to international companies that wish to withdraw from China through equity transfer, liquidation, capital reduction and bankruptcy as well. Hui is licensed to practice law in China and has working languages of Chinese, English and Japanese.
Libin Zhang, partner
Mr Zhang received his BA in economics from the University of International Business and Economics in 1987, and his JD from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law in 1997. Mr Zhang worked in several prestigious law firms in the US from 1997 to 2010 as lawyer and partner. He served as head of Legal M&A, Asia & Australia in Siemens, China from 2011 to March 2015, and joined Broad & Bright as partner in April 2015.
Mr Zhang focuses on foreign direct investment, M&A, outbound investment, energy, environment and arbitration. Mr Zhang has extensive experience with professional practice of over 17 years in cross-border investment and M&A, serving numerous domestic and foreign clients. Mr Zhang participated in many significant M&A projects in energy, industry, healthcare, infrastructure and urban transportation business when working at Siemens, China. He has also participated in various M&A projects of the other clients, including advising Sohu.com in its transfer of 17173.com to Changyou.com; representing Germany Uhlmann Asien Holding to purchase Jinzhou Wonder Packaging; representing the shareholders of Gomye in its equity sale to Publicis Groupe and assisting Prudential with establishing one of the first few joint venture securities fund management companies in China.
Yuping He, partner
Mr He Yuping obtained his LLB and LLM in 1994 and 1999 respectively from China University of Political Science and Law. He completed the training program at Academy of International and American Law held in South Methodist University in 2001.
Before joining Broad & Bright as partner, Mr He worked with Fulbright & Jaworski as a senior counsel and with Schlumberger as legal manager, taking charge of the company’s legal matters in six Asian countries. Prior to assuming the post in Schlumberger, Mr He had worked in a division of CNPC responsible for international business for six years, and held the post of deputy legal manager. Mr He focuses on legal matters relating to cross-border investments and M&A, reorganisation of state-owned enterprises, PE and corporate operations, particularly specialising in investments and M&A in energy sector.
Hao Jiang, partner
Mr Hao Jiang graduated from Peking University with LLB and LLM degrees, in 1996 and 1999 respectively. He then earned a JD degree, magna cum laude, from Villanova University School of Law in 2002 and an LLM degree in taxation from New York University School of Law in 2003, both in the United States.
Subsequently, he worked with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman’s Washington DC office, Cahill Gordon & Reindel’s New York City office, and White & Case’s Shanghai office, with years of practice experience. Currently, Mr Jiang is a partner at Broad & Bright.
Mr Jiang concentrates his practice on private equity, M&A, real estate, tax, and foreign investment.
Rong Fan, partner
Mr Fan received his LLB from China University of Political Science and Law in 1994, and LLM from University of International Business and Economics in 1998, and MJur from Oxford University in 2006.
Mr Fan joined Broad & Bright in 2016 as a partner. Mr Fan was a partner of Beijing Zhong Lun Law Firm from 2008 to 2016. Mr Fan worked as a local legal adviser in Allen & Overy Beijing from 2006 to 2008. He worked as a senior in-house counsel at Industrial and Commercial Bank of China from 1998 to 2005.
Fan Rong specialises in banking and project finance with particular expertise in leasing structures and asset finance.
Linzhu Wang, partner

Mr Wang joined Broad & Bright Law Firm in November 2006, before that, he had nearly 10 years practising experience as a lawyer. After receiving his LLB degree from Peking University School of Law, Mr Wang started his legal career as a legal Department Officer at State Intellectual Property Office, the topmost intellectual administration authority in China.
Mr Wang has accumulated rich experiences in litigation, arbitration and disputes resolution during his long-term traditional lawyer practice for almost 10 years. He has represented domestic and international clients in hundreds of cases before China’s Supreme People’s Court and various Chinese courts and arbitration tribunals in resolution of all kinds of civil and commercial disputes.
Philips Z Ding, partner
Mr Ding received LLM in the specialisation of Corporate and Financial Service Law from National University of Singapore in 2005 and LLB from Fudan University in 2002.
Mr Ding is a partner based in the Shanghai Office of Broad & Bright. Before relocating to Shanghai, Mr Ding worked in the Hong Kong offices of Dewey & LeBoeuf and Simmons & Simmons.
Mr Ding’s practice encompasses joint venture projects, merger & acquisition, private equity investment, project development and finance, initial public offering, corporate insolvency as well as anti-bribery and compliance work.
Yifan Chen, partner
Mr Chen obtained his LLB degree from Suzhou University Law School in 1990. During the period of 1995 to 1999, he went to Chuo University Law School of Japan and obtained LLB degree. He continued to study international enterprise relationship law in Chuo University and got LLM degree during the period of 1999 to 2001.
Mr Chen worked with Shimin Law Offices from 2002 to 2006. He was a full-time attorney at Shidai Law Office from 2006 to 2007. Before joining Broad & Bright as a partner in 2011, Mr Chen was a partner of Runming Law Office from 2008 to December, 2010. On December 1, 2014, proved by the Japanese Department of Justice and registered with the Japanese Bar Association, Mr Chen was formally admitted to practice in Japan as a registered foreign lawyer (subordinated to the Tokyo Bar Association).
Mr Chen’s major practice areas include foreign investment, mergers and acquisitions, debt recovery, labor law and foreign-related dispute resolution.
Weiwei Weng, partner
Mr Weng obtained his LLB degree from Peking University in 1991 and his LLM degree from Keio University of Japan in 1997. Before joining Broad & Bright as a partner in 2008, Mr Weng worked with Mori Hamada & Matsumoto from 1997 to 2008.
Mr Weng’s major practice areas include foreign direct investment in China, mergers and acquisitions, listing, real estate and construction, intellectual property and general corporate.
Before joining Broad & Bright, Mr Weng practised in Mori Hamada & Matsumoto, one of the leading law firms in Japan, for 11 years and has extensive experience in his major practice areas. Mr Weng has participated in a great number of investment and acquisition as the leading counsel on behalf of Japanese investors in China and has provided comprehensive services for foreign-invested enterprises in terms of daily operation, management, debt claim, quality control, reorganisation, winding-up and liquidation. In the area of overseas listing, he represented several Chinese companies in their listing in Japan.
Roland Sun, partner
Mr Sun graduated from Fudan University and received his LLB in 2002. In the same year Mr Sun started his career with Shanghai Pudong Law Office. Thereafter he worked for Shanghai Jin Mao Law Firm from 2004 to 2008. Mr Sun joined Broad & Bright as a senior associate in August 2008 and was promoted to partner in 2011.
Mr Sun is seasoned in foreign direct investment and mergers & acquisitions, thanks to his numerous representations in greenfield investments and acquisitions in Mainland China of multinational companies. He has also been advising the onshore subsidiaries of multinational companies on their general corporate matters. Moreover, Mr Sun advised lots of banks and borrowers on various banking deals including project finance, off-balance sheet finance, acquisition finance as well as business trust transactions. Mr Sun’s representative clients include major multinational companies such as ThyssenKrupp, Magna, SPX Corporation, Visteon, Middleby and a couple of domestic and foreign banks.
Yanjie Lian, partner
Yanjie Lian graduated from Fudan University with a LLB degree in 2002. During 2002 and 2015, he worked as associate and senior partner at Shanghai Xinhua Law Firm. In January 2016, Yanjie Lian joined Broad & Bright Law Firm as partner.
Yanjie Lian mainly practices in the field of litigation and arbitration, real estate, construction and projects, corporate and commercial law, intellectual property rights, entertainment law and etc. Yanjie Lian has more than 13 years of work experience and has successfully represented many influential and landmark cases.
Tracey Tang, partner
Tracey TANG graduated from Tongji University in 2001 and 2004 with a Bachelor degree and a Master degree in law respectively. From March 2004 to September 2010, Tracey practised law in two major Chinese law firms focusing on foreign investment and commercial dispute resolution.
From October 2010 to October 2012, Tracey worked for Herbert Smith Shanghai Representative Office specialising in cross-border merger and acquisition. Before joining Broad & Bright, Tracey served as Senior Legal Counsel (Asia) for a globally well-known mobile game entertainment and media company, Rovio Entertainment. Tracey joined Broad & Bright Shanghai Office as Counsel in October 2015 and was promoted to Partner in January 2017.
Tracey TANG has extensive experience in foreign investment, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property as well as commercial dispute resolution. She is good at and committed to exerting dispute resolution experience in non-contentious matters as well as resolving disputes in complex transactional backgrounds in order to provide clients with proactive legal advices and strategic solutions. Tracey’s in-house counsel experience also enables her to customise legal services based on her profound understanding of clients’ needs, and market dynamics.
Keith Yuan, partner
Mr Yuan graduated from Fudan Universtiy Law School and is a partner and key member of Broad & Bright’s southern China practice. Prior to joining Broad & Bright, he worked for two major US law firms in Hong Kong.
Mr Yuan advised regularly on private equity, venture capital, corporate finance, M&A, foreign direct investment, real estate development and acquisition and fund formation projects. He was also involved in various types of PRC originated offshore capital market transactions, including IPOs, PIPEs, RTOs and SPACs. During the past several years Mr Yuan worked on various high profiled private equity projects including investments in JD.com (also known as 360buy.com), Alibaba Group and Xiaomi Corporation.
Dongmei Han, partner
Ms Han obtained her LLB and LLM degrees from China University of Politics & Law in 2001 and 2004 respectively. She has been working at Broad & Bright since 2004 as an associate.
