A woman who started her career as a law firm admin assistant at age 15 has become the UK’s youngest ever judge.

31-year-old Briony Clarke joined Taylor Haldane Barlex (THB) when it was first founded in 2001 and has been with the firm ever since.

She completed her degree while working part-time at THB, also becoming an accredited duty solicitor police station representative in this time. She qualified as a criminal solicitor in 2009, making partner in 2014.

She has just been appointed as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates Court).

A spokesperson for Taylor Haldane Barlex said: “This is a prestigious appointment that reflects her ability as a Criminal Advocate. We believe she is the youngest female applicant to have been successful. It is without doubt an extraordinary personal achievement and the partnership are absolutely delighted for her. Briony will continue her practice and sit as a Deputy District Judge part time.”
