Leading Italian firm Bonelli Erede Pappalardo has implemented a round of promotions, a week after losing five partners to Latham & Watkins.
Bonelli has promoted corporate finance partners Alessandro Balp and Paolo Daino from junior to equity partners and has opened the partnership to tax associate Stefano Simontacchi and banking and finance lawyers Gianfranco Veneziano and Lorenza Talpo.
The new appointments are effective from the start of 2008 and take the firm up to 60 partners. The promotions come just days after Latham & Watkins raided Bonelli for a five-partner team to launch and Italian law practice.
Finance partner Andrea Novarese and M&A partners Maria Cristina Storchi, Fabio Coppola, Tommaso Amirante and Simone Monesi are set to leave Bonelli’s Milan office. In September Linklaters lured corporate partner Luca Picone away from the domestic firm.
