BNP legal head makes second departure for private practice

The former head of legal at BNP Paribas in Switzerland has left the investment bank for a second time to return to private practice, after moving to Pestalozzi Lachenal Patry.

Gilles Thieffry, a former member of the executive board in the Swiss office of BNP Paribas will join Pestalozzi’s Geneva office today (1 June) as a partner.

In 1995, Thieffry, then head of legal at BNP Capital Markets, took up a post as head of capital markets at Norton Rose. In 2000 Thieffry then moved to the now defunct Andersen-tied law firm Garretts where he was also head of capital markets.

Philippe Berta, Thieffry’s deputy at BNP Paribas, will take over as head of legal in Switzerland.
