Bird & Bird secures head of public law for Paris base

Bird & Bird Paris has taken on a second partner within a month, recruiting the head of public law from French independent August & Debouzy.

Jean Dominique Bloch will lead Bird & Bird’s public law team, and has been joined by two assistants from his former firm. With the hires, Bird & Bird’s public law group will now house seven lawyers.

Bloch is moving to Bird & Bird just weeks after the firm’s Paris office raided another French independent, Alain Bensoussan Avocats, for the head of its data protection group Ariane Mole.

Bloch joined August & Debouzy in 1997 after eight years with niche public law firm Nordmann-Lévy-Bloch.

Bird & Bird is looking to integrate its public sector expertise across its fledgling European network on the back of its market-leading UK public sector IT team. The firm is looking specifically at Paris and its two offices in Germany to spearhead its growth in this area.
