Bevan Brittan launches licensing team

Bevan Brittan has established a dedicated licensing practice for the first time, with the hire of two lawyers into its Birmingham office.
Former Hammonds senior assistant Sharon McCann and ex-Heatons head of licensing Rob Westwood-Payne joined Bevan Brittan on 1 February.
McCann joins the firm as a partner, while Westwood-Payne is an associate.
The pair will be responsible for setting up the Bristol firm’s first dedicated national licensing practice, servicing leisure clients across the firm.
Bevan Brittan head of leisure Peter Moody said the firm hoped to leverage off its experience in dealing with government and local authorities to advise leisure clients on changes to licensing laws.
Bevan Brittan has expanded rapidly in Birmingham after a slate of hires last year including that of Wragge & Co local government specialist Peter Keith-Lucas, who joined the firm in August.
