Beachcrofts adds property trio in Bristol

Beachcroft Wansbroughs is doubling the number of property partners in its Bristol office by acquiring a local niche practice.

The three partners from Crawford Owen will be absorbed by Beachcrofts when the firm takes it over in April. A spokesman for Beachcrofts says the move will make his firm a “new regional market leader in the South West”.

Martin Davies Jones, Gillie Slater and David Esam will join partners Michael Bothamley – the office's head of property – George Williamson and John Blackwell in running the department.

Jones says the merger is right for Crawford Owen because underlying trends show niche firms are struggling.

He says: “After 11 years of independence we feel we are doing the right thing for our clients and for ourselves.

“The tide may be turning against the smaller niche firms which do not have the resources or range of expertise which is available in a national firm, such as Beachcroft Wansbroughs.”

Bothamley says of the merger: “We already have a significant body of clients in common with each other.”
