Insurance giant Aviva has named a replacement for former legal boss Monica Risam, bringing in Bupa legal director for the role of Aviva Life general counsel.
Alison Gammon will join the company in Risam’s old role which concerned 65 per cent of Aviva’s overall business.
Gammon spent nearly five years with Bupa, serving as legal director from January 2015 until her departure.
She spent over five years in the financial institutions group at Allen & Overy, undertook a secondment at Barclays before moving in-house to take the role of international legal director at Legal & General.
While at Bupa, Gammon led on the company’s 2013 acquisitions of both LuxMed and Quality Healthcare.
The change in roles was triggered when Risam’s departure was revealed earlier this month. She spent six years with Aviva after joining the insurance company in 2011.
Kirsty Cooper remains Aviva’s group company secretary and general counsel, however UK head of legal Andrew Kay joined Risam, leaving Aviva earlier this year.
Cooper has been with Aviva for 26 years, joining when it was known as General Accident.
