A&O settles Jewish discrimination dispute

Allen & Overy (A&O) has settled a discrimination suit with former employee Norman Schoenfeld in New York, who claimed he had been fired for observing Jewish holidays.

The finance associate claimed he was told he had to work during religious holidays and was sacked when he did not. A&O said his employment had come to an end after a trial period and his departure was based solely on performance.

In a statement, A&O said: “The parties have resolved the case and we anticipate that it will be closed in the near future.” Schoenfeld instructed Anne Vladeck of Vladeck Waldman Elias & Engelhard while A&O was advised Rene Fleming from Morgan Lewis & Bockius.
