Allen & Overy (A&O) has hired Paul Hastings lawyer Ben Regnard-Weinrabe as a partner in its financial services regulatory practice.

Regnard-Weinrabe joined the US firm in 2014 after a 14-year career at Hogan Lovells.

He advises clients on payment services regulation and fintech, specialising in consumer finance and retail banking matters.

A&O head of financial services regulatory Damian Carolan explained: “There’s a significant level of investment by financial institutions and other players being deployed to develop the next generation of technology supporting the transformation of the payments and banking market.”

As well as working for A&O’s regulatory partners, Regnard-Weinrabe will also advise alongside the firm’s broader fintech group including head Simon Toms.

Last March, A&O hired Herbert Smith Freehills partner Nick Bradbury to its financial services regulatory group. Other key partners include Etay Katz and Kate Sumpter.

The move will see Regnard-Weinrabe switch floors in Paul Hastings’ Bishops Square premises, which are shared by A&O.

Last week, it was revealed that the US firm would be moving out of its City home to the new Bishopsgate complex alongside Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
