Amery-Parkes quits London

It is understood that the decision to close the Chancery Lane office coincided with a number of the London partners deciding to quit for private client specialist Payne Hicks Beach.
Amery-Parkes London managing partner William Davis has joined Payne Hicks as a consultant in corporate and commercial, together with Richard Cowan, who joins as a partner.
Peter Black, accompanied by assistant John Mills, has joined as a property partner. He will take over from the current head of department Andrew Crawford next year.
Amery-Parkes will close its London office on Friday 14 September. It is unclear where the firm's four other London partners and four solicitors will go.
Amery-Parkes' Bristol-based head of litigation Christopher Simmons was unavailable for comment, but Black said: “The firm has taken the decision to close its London office. It will still operate from Birmingham, Bristol and Basingstoke, focusing on PI and litigation. It may continue to do a little bit of conveyancing, but really the focus will be on that side of the business.
“There has been a recognition that this is where the main focus of the firm should be.”
