Addleshaws and CC woo women with govt pilot projects

Addleshaw Goddard and Clifford Chance have committed to test new projects as the government launche a scheme to close the gender pay gap.

The Exemplar Employer scheme, launched today, commits the firms to pilot new projects that will cover a number of areas ranging from encouraging women to try for partnership to supporting mothers returning to work and creating better opportunities for part-time staff.

Addleshaws will pilot a new flexible working scheme that aims to help women returning to work.

Other projects include online job-share registers to support women returning from maternity leave, mentoring schemes to retain women in senior management, and parent-support groups to help make childcare arrangements simpler.

The firms will also have access to a new Quality Part-Time Work fund for employers to finance trouble shooters to advise on how to create more part time jobs for women at senior level.

Both schemes have been created by the Government in response to the Women and Work Commission report, which looked at the causes of the gender pay gap.

Other major organisations to sign-up to include Asda, Goldman Sachs and Parcelforce.
