Zurich Financial Services has snared Barclays' head of corporate legal Neil Hodges for the role of UK general counsel.
Hodges appointment follows the retirement of James Butler, who will leave the financial services company at the end of the month.
Hodges' new role sees him take responsibility for all legal and company secretarial matters related to the UK, as well as becoming a member of Zurich's general insurance executive and life executive teams.
The lawyer, who joined Barclays from Allen & Overy, was shortlisted for the In-house Lawyer of the Year prize at The Lawyer Awards 2006 for his management of Barclays' acquisition of a majority stake in South African Asba Bank.
