Zurich Professional has appointed David Coughlan as its new managing director.
The role sees him take the helm of the solicitors' professional indemnity insurance supplier and also join the executive team of sister company Zurich London. Coughlan steps into the position vacated by former Solicitors' Indemnity Fund head Elizabeth Mullins, who left at the end of May. He joined Zurich London in 2000, forming part of the team behind the launch of Zurich Professional in May that year. His responsibilities as managing director of Zurich Professional include building on the insurer's position within the solicitors indemnity market and expanding into other professional markets. Coughlan, a qualified actuary, brings a wealth of experience of the insurance industry, having worked previously at both Norwich Union Direct and Guardian Direct. Zurich London chief executive Martin South said: "David's made a major contribution to the great success of Zurich Professional. I'confident that his enthusiasm and dedication will take the business to further heights."
