LONDON firm Zaiwalla & Co says its representation on Michael Heseltine's trade mission to China is proof the Government takes the profession's trade-boosting potential seriously.
Senior partner Sarosh Zaiwalla flew out to China with the President of the Board of Trade last week in what is the largest ever trade mission undertaken by the British Government.
Zaiwalla & Co has strong Asian connections and specialises in advising British companies on joint ventures with foreign companies wishing to do business in the UK.
It also handles maritime cases in London for vessel owners and charterers and has acted for the Chinese government.
Zaiwalla, who has also been on a trade mission to India, says his inclusion in the delegation reflects increasing government awareness of the importance of the role of lawyers in developing international trade and economic relations.
The week-long mission will take in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
Heseltine says exports to China "shot up" by nearly 15 per cent in 1994 and export opportunities offered to UK companies are "phenomenal".
