There were red faces all round last week in New York when Michael Watson, deputy general counsel of New York Life Insurance Company, the largest mutual life insurance company in the US, was found to have never been licensed to practise law. He had previously worked as an associate at the New York offices of Hunton & Williams and Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy.
