DAVIES Arnold Cooper personal injury specialist David Pipkin has been elected as the youngest-ever president of the Institute of Legal Executives.
Pipkin, a fellow of Ilex since 1979, was appointed as successor to Marron Dodds' Phillip Partridge at the first meeting of the Ilex council last week.
He says his main objectives for his year in office will be to establish the institute as the professional body representing the majority of unadmitted staff working in the legal profession, and encourage awareness of equal opportunities.
"My background in personal injury work has made me appreciate the difficulty that anyone with a significant disability faces in finding or returning to employment," says Pipkin.
"In a year which will probably see new legislation concerning disabled persons rights in employment, it is vitally important that Ilex is fully alert to the disadvantages of those suffering a disability. My fellow council members and I will work to ensure that every person who wants to follow the Ilex route to a career in the law is given equal opportunity."
