Wragges woos assistant back as equity partner

A Wragge & Co assistant, who left the Birmingham firm five years ago, has returned to the fold as an equity partner.

Edward Dawes was poached back from 15-partner Stoke-on-Trent firm Kent Jones and Done, where he was head of corporate. He will join Wragges' plc team, specialising in public to private deals.

Dawes says it is Wragges' size which tempted him back. The firm has doubled its turnover and head count since he left, he says.

"Heading up KJD's corporate department was a great challenge and I enjoyed taking the firm more into the corporate marketplace. From there, I became involved in public company work, and increasingly public to private work.

"This is the area which I most enjoy, but you need resources to operate effectively. It's not just size that matters, it's everything else that goes with size."

Ian Metcalfe, Wragges' plc group head, says: "He is a natural choice to strengthen our abilities in the plc marketplace and to meet increasing demand in the public to private arena where there is considerable activity. His reputation as a creative market-facing thinker will perfectly supplement the group."
