Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co has appointed Dr Andreas Woelfle as a corporate partner to lead its corporate offering in Germany. The appointment forms part of the firm’s international strategy for growth, alongside its combination with Gowlings to become Gowling WLG.

Andreas joins the firm having previously worked for one of Germany’s top corporate law firms, Gleiss Lutz and leading Mittelstand law firm, Menold Bezler. He will be focussed on growing Gowling WLG’s corporate offering and capabilities in Germany, particularly the firm’s ability to deliver larger and more complex international work.

Andreas said: “I have worked closely with Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co for 20 years and during that time I have developed a deep respect for the firm both in terms of its high levels of expertise and its collaborative, single team approach to business.”

With extensive experience in handling complex and demanding cross-border matters, in particular mergers and acquisitions, regulated industries and compliance investigations, Andreas will contribute a high level of expertise regarding the development and delivery of an integrated international service.

His experience includes advising Air Liquide on its €2.7bn acquisition of the Messer Griesheim German, US and UK businesses; advising Fortune Brands/Beam Global on the German aspects of the €10.7bn takeover of Allied Domecq by Pernod Ricard and the €4.4bn acquisition of various Allied Domecq spirit and wine brand divisions; advising Behr on the sale of shares in Behr to Mahle, as well as significant experience in major cross-border mergers and acquisitions.
