Birmingham giant Wragge & Co has scooped a coveted instruction to act for Marks & Spencer (M&S) on the redevelopment of its Baker Street headquarters.
M&S turned to Wragges in favour of SJ Berwin to advise the embattled retailer on the ambitious scheme, which is likely to be worth as much as £400m when completed. It will be one of the biggest redevelopments in the West End.
Other firms, including non-relationship firms, also participated in the beauty parade. Historically, M&S has used a raft of firms, including Denton Wilde Sapte, Manchester-based Jones Maidment and Osborne Clarke, as well as SJ Berwin and Wragges for property law advice. The mandate is a huge boost for Wragges’ real estate department.
SJ Berwin was unavailable for comment.
