The Lawyer Global Litigation Top 50 report is the only ranking of international law firms by litigation and arbitration revenue and is essential reading for anyone seeking to benchmark their litigation and dispute resolution practices...
This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Congratulations are due to the five Weightmans associates today celebrating their ascension to the hallowed ranks of the firm’s fixed-share partnership (see story).
But these lucky juniors might just be in line for entry into Norris McWhirter’s big old book under ’Length of Time as Partner (shortest)’.
That’s because the unmistakable scent of merger is fully wedged into the nostrils of managing partner Paddy Gaul. And if twin deals with Mace & Jones and Vizards Wyeth come off, top brass has already admitted that the partnership may need “reshaping”. Bitter experience should tell us all that the new shape is rarely a bigger one.
Still, speaking of what we can learn from history, 2010 surely taught us that conducting merger talks in the full glare of the public eye might not always produce the desired result. Take a bow (after your long look in the mirror), SJ Berwin (see story).
So perhaps the Famous Five at Weightmans can sleep easy in their beds this weekend after all.
